5.5.1.1: Search fields

P/N:  "Part Number". It is a combination of numbers, letters, and symbols assigned by a manufacturer or vendor to identify a material or component.

Description:  Full name of the part or item.

ATA:  ATA (Air Transport Association) number of the specific part or item. Entering two digits displays the list of all components concerned with this ATA chapter. For a more precise search, a four-digit number should be entered. The reference table of ATA chapters is available on any Nomenclature form or at : GENERAL / Maintenance settings / ATA Chapters

Vendor: It is the vendor code defined in the Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) supplied by the manufacturer.

P/N type: Each item of part is associated with a P/N Type:

Expendable : this category includes all non-repairable and non-reusable parts. For any item of this category, there might be a batch number, a serial number or neither.

Ingredient : this category includes all non-reusable substance (compounds, fluids, grease, oils, ...). Items of this category might have a batch number or not.

Rotable : this category includes all repairable aircraft parts. AMS Software automatically classifies new parts into "Rotable (supposed)" unless the user specifies another P/N Type.

Tool : this category includes all instruments used to perform maintenance.  There is a sub category for serialized and non-serialized tools

Service : this category includes all types of services, including labor.

NOTE: you will see other P/N types in iCare AMS depending on the initial setup of your database (based on your business applications), like GSE Equipments, or Facilities.

Ess. code: This code indicates the consequence of the associated component failure. This code is usually defined by the OEM and is based on the component listed (and not listed) in the MMEL (Master Minimum Equipment List)

1 - dispatch essential : Failure of this component will cause the aircraft to stop operations (AOG).

2 - sometimes dispatch ess.: Failure of this component might cause the aircraft to become unserviceable depending on specific conditions (weather,  visibility, type of considered operation, flight envelop limitations)

3 - non dispatch essential: Failure of this component will not impact the aircraft serviceability (permissible failure under the MMEL / MCDL).

Auto Generated: Indicate is this Nomenclature was generated by a user (MANUAL) or was generated automatically by AMS (AUTO)
