3.3: User defined interface

Window placements and size

Each time you close a window in AMS, its size and placement are recorded so that it will be display at the same position the next time this windows is open.

This behavior is also effective to the main AMS window and the monitor on which the window was closed is also recorded (if your computer has multiple monitors)

In case of hardware modifications (mainly with the screen & monitors configuration), this may cause AMS to completely disappear from your visible screen. To correct such situation, it is required to erase the local interface settings. You can erase the local interface settings by running AMS with a command parameter (see below to know how to use command parameters)

Command to erase interface settings:

                         clearsettings

Do not forget to remove this command after execution (otherwise your settings will be erased each time you run AMS)

License defined interface

Note that your interface may also change depending on your license

User rights dependent interface

In AMS, each user account is associated with rights to access each function and module (access, read and modify). The interface of AMS will change depending on these user's rights.

Multi-monitor systems

For heavy users of AMS, it is extremely useful, comfortable and more productive to use wide screens and multiple monitors configuration. AMS is designed to take advantages from such systems. The multi-monitor mode is the default mode as it is also adapted to wide screens. If you want to change this display mode, use the following commands:

Command to run AMS in single screen configuration:

When using this mode, all windows are contained in the general application window

                         mod_embod

Command to run AMS in multiple monitor configuration:

This is the default mode

                         mod_multimon

What display mode should I use ? Simple: Whatever the size of your primary monitor (the one used to display the main window), use the single screen configuration if the main AMS window takes more than 70% of the screen area; else, you can use the multi-monitors configuration. When using the multi-monitor mode, each window is independent from the others and can be placed anywhere on your desktop (including other screens). Another important thing when using the multi-monitor mode is that the active window (the one having the user's focus) is displayed on top of the others: you will experience troubles if you use this mode whereas your screen area is so small that several windows are using the same placement (the focused window will hide the others).

Using command parameters to run AMS:

Edit the shortcut to AMS Client

In the target field, add the required parameters separated with a space

Example:

This command will run AMS in multi monitors and will clear the interface settings

"C:\AMS\AMS_Client\AMS_Client.exe" "mod_multimon" "clearsettings"
