Each MR can be split into several Parts, each Part having different threshold / intervals.  A multiple parts MR is composed of several MRs having the same reference and the same effectivity.

 

The most common use of multiple part MRs are the ADs, when the first requirement is a preparation action (usually an inspection) and the second action (second Part) is a modification or a periodic inspection.

 

Another important use of multiple part MRs are the Kardex positions (component positions on an aircraft): The same component position may have several requirements / limitations, each one having an  independent threshold / interval and a different inspection level (Inspection / repair, overhaul, scrapping). For example, an oxygen cylinder having an overhaul (hydrostatic test) limit at 36 months and a life limit of 180 months will be set using 2 multiple parts MRs:

MR n°1: Reference 350112 - Part 1 - Interval   36 months - maintenance level OHL

MR n°2: Reference 350112 - Part 2 - Interval 180 months - maintenance level NEW
