R.String/Full Text is a special field used to build special and modifiable selections of MRs.

If, for whatever reason, you need to identify a range of MRs which are not otherwise identifiable by their type or their reference then you can add a specific identification to their R.String field. Once done, you can retrieve the list of these MRs by specifying this string in the R.String filter.

 

Example: You want to quickly retrieve all MRs of a maintenance programme which needs to be verified to comply with an audit finding. First mark all MRs of that category by specifying "TOCHK" in their R.String field. Then, to retrieve the list, specify "TOCHK" in the R.String filter. When a MR is verified, remove the "TOCHK" mark in the R.String.

 

Note: The R.String field can be used to create multi-dimensional selections (meaning that a particular MR can be selected into two or more different lists). To do that, separate each marker by a "+" sign in the R.String field of MRs; Use the "*" (star) in the R.String filter (example: "*TOCHK*").
