In order to improve your utilization of AMS and take the full benefit of a highly integrated system, consider the purchase of the following hardware. Other brands and models than the ones listed bellow will most probably work perfectly with AMS but might not have been tested. Consult our support department to verify the hardware you are planning to purchase is fully compatible.
The adequate hardware is an important element to consider for improving productivity and reduce the risk associated with the human factor.
Internet Rooter
It is recommended to allow your AMS users to connect remotely (from home or from remote work locations) to improve flexibility and efficiency. In order to allow this remote connectivity, you will need either to configure a VPN (not documented in this manual) or to root incoming calls to the appropriate server on your local network. 99% of internet rooters have this capability. Contact our support to obtain more technical data and ensure that your rooter has this capability.
Document Scanners
iCare AMS includes a TWAIN / WIA driver interface which can be used to scan any document directly from iCare AMS and record it on your AMS server by drag & drop. To take advantage of this functionality you need TWAIN / WIA compliant scanner connected to your computer.
Bar-Code Readers
AMS is making intensive use of bar codes, especially to support Engineering function ( Execute Work using Bar code) and Store functions ( Material Issue / Material Return from the workplace / Reception of Goods ). To take advantage of these functions, you need any scanner / bar code reader available on the market (we never found a model not compatible with iCare AMS). Bar code scanners can be USB wired or wireless (bluetooth principally).
Label Printers
Part of the bar code functionality relies on your capability to print bar codes. While AMS offers the possibility to print material tags on A4 paper from (without a label printer), it is highly recommended to use label printers for material tags.
Recommended models:
- Brother QL-700 or QL-800 (individual USB thermal printer 62 mm / indicative price USD 100 / uses label DK4205 2.4 x 100 feet USD 33)
- Brother QL-720NW or QL-820NW (network thermal printer 62 mm / indicative price USD 170 / uses label DK4205 2.4 x 100 feet USD 33)
The above printers do not need toner or ink cartridge (thermal printing), which is making it easy to use and economical
The choice between individual or network models mainly depends on the office layout so that each user can print and collect a label without walking more than 3 meters.
Monitors
Intensive AMS users (Technical office / Maintenance Planning / Purchase department) will have a lot of information available at their fingertips when using AMS. To take advantage of this enriched environment, they will need a large display surface. We recommend 2 monitors of 21 inches, or an equivalent display surface using a single monitor.
